| Jimmy enlisted in the Navy
in 1946 when he was 17 years old. He was assigned to the U.S.S. Midway
and while on the ship, he formed a group called "The Hickory Holler Hardheads".
The members of the "Hickory Holler Hardheads" were Jimmy Case, Oscar Underwood, Malcolm Pugh and the person on left in the above picture, playing the guitar, is unknown at this time. The above picture was taken aboard the U.S.S. Midway, CVB-41, March 9, 1948. |
